Two new interviews for the new year
Michael McDermott spent time with James at the Journal of Vitriolic Observtions
here
and then took time to answer a few questions for his website

Describe your 2011 in a sentence or two

Well it was a pretty challenging year......both artistically and personally. With an infant in your life, sleep is a commodity, and with a lack thereof, memory loss becomes an issue.  My mother passing was certainly the hardest thing i've had to bare, like Willie learning to walk, i too had to learn to take steps all over again. Everything i had known, had changed.

You played a number of shows both in the United States and in Italy. Got any good road stories to share?

Having another person in the band (Willie) makes traveling an entire adventure unto itself. She's already a pretty good road warrior. She got very sick in Italy.....we took her to the hospital and they fixed her right up, for no charge as well. Universal Health Care anyone?? TJ lost his bass and his luggage in the same trip......i guess that was noteworthy!

Tell us how the Kickstarter campaign came about and your thoughts on its succes

I had heard about it and had several friends do it.....so i gave it a shot......worked out great......thank you to everyone who contributed!

The 20
thAnniversary of  620 W. Surf show at Lincoln Hall in June was memorable for many reasons. When you first walked out on stage, what was your initial reaction to seeing such a welcoming audience? There must have been a few “pinch me” moments in the se

Indeed......it was truly one of the great nights in my life. I was very nervous before the show......well, focused was more like it. The show was great,.. ..a great night, i will always remember

What are the plans to release the DVD?

We should be releasing the DVD in January....probably late in the month.

You entered the studio in December to record the next record. Tell us a little about the recording process and who you've worked with. Want to share a little teaser about what fans can expect?

Worked with CJ Eiriksson on this one.....he engineered and mixed Noise From Words...he just got off the road with U2 from an 8 month world tour.....he worked with them on their last record, engineering for Steve Lilywhite....it was he and i mostly.....brought in the guys and gal in seperate days....really wanted to construct this one piece by piece. We recorded it all in 8 days.....which was the quickest record of my life......just thrilled with it though.

What do you have on tap in 2012?

The release of the new record is by far the thing i'm most looking forward to. We will be touring extensively in support of it......

What would you like to say to your fans as you close out 2011?

Thank you all sincerely from the bottom of my heart......without you .....i wouldn't be me
