I play this video game called Lord of the Rings Online. Inside this game is a complex music system that allows characters to create their own music. I have created a character named Mcdermott Murphy in the game. He is a minstrel, raising the morale of his fellows thru ballads. In order to create the music in game, I take a MIDI file of the piece and transcribe it into a format for LOTRO called .abc which allows a character to play the file on a particular instrument. The are only a few types in game to play on... lute, flute, drum, clairinet, theroboe (did I spell that right?) etc. While I would never ask Michael to take time to create a MIDI of a song just for this project, if there are any of you that can, either by ear/midi recording device, or have the software to do so (Widisoft or Intelliscore both do this automatic), please let me know. I now it's a kinda crazy project, but it is fun to me, and if someone passing by in game asks "Cool song! What is it?" I can proudly answer Michael McDermott, here's the link to his site. Anyway, here is Mcdermott's first solo performance in the game. An old Irish folk song called "Whiskey in the Jar". A hair under 2 mins, it won't hurt, I promise!
