 Hey Everybody......
Just checking in......Willie just turned 9 weeks old and we are still doing our best to get some sleep. Getting about 6 hours a day  but its broken up into series of two hours at a time it seems. I went to England a few weeks back thinking that i would actually catch up on my sleep but it was not to be. Greenbelt was great.....my first show at the Performance Cafe was packed.....heard something around 700 people. Was a short set./....40 mins....and was a very hurried soundcheck but the show was great.....having that many people in rapt attention when i did " The Silent Will Soon Be Singing " was my highlight.....i even got goosebumps during it. Was a moment i won't soon forget. At the hotel there is the tradition of workers of the festival meeting there late night for drinks. Well some of those nights turned into 5am song sessions....so there was no sleep to be had. I'd like to thank, Steve Foster, Dave Emmerson and Paul Chambers for making the trip so fun and successful.

Came back to reality and did  a few shows in the past couple weeks with the band.....tried out some new songs " Willie Is Coming To Town" ( wasn't so good) Prettiest Girl In The World ( went great)  5 Dollar Whore(  loved doing it with a band) and look forward to really shaking the set up ....next week in Lemont at This Must Be The Place ...i hope to try even more new stuff.......so its a very exciting time for me lately, as a writer, and as a performer.

There was a bit of an uproard about the prices of Monday Morning Madness. So i guess i will go on record and explain myself.  Up until recently , in the past years i would write a song and have to hold on to it and wait to get the opportunity of making an album. I was happy that when those songs came out on the " official"  record they were fresh to the listener and that i hoped would create more energy about the songs. With the advent of the internet, songs were available and i was always worried about people getting these early and when the record finally came out, they'd be bored with the songs.....even though they would sound better and slicker cuz they were done in a studio....the song just wasnt' as fresh to some people. That is the reason behind charging 3 bucks a tune......there are songs that i would love to just hold off and not letting ANYONE hear.....but with the state of the economy and my bank account.......i figure i will just charge a lot, so people who are REALLY wanting to hear it can....and those who would rather wait.....they can wait......it was as simple as that. I really dont' know when or how i will make a new record and its conceivable this may be my only way of getting songs out in quite some time......for i have neither the money or the investors anymore to think i will be going back into a studio anytime soon. Sad, but true.

anyway......thats all the news for now.....thanks so much.......please spread the word......and not only the word,,....but spread the passion, about life, love, food, drink, art, film, literature, friendship, life......and if you can throw in a good word about me.....i sure would appreciate that too....

a few closing words from the speech that John F Kennedy was slated to give on the afternoon of Nov 22nd 1963, that he unfortunately, never got to give.....but the words ring as true as ever

"There will always be dissident voices heard in the land, expressing opposition without alternatives, finding fault but never favor, perceiving gloom on every side and seeking influence without responsibility. Those voices are inevitable."

much love

    • My fiance and I are getting married on January 19th. We're going to Alabama for our honeymoon, so I looked up the Workplay Theater to see who was playing that week. Turns out that your playing there on the 20th, so we bought our tickets. I've been to the Workplay before, and they had extra concert flyers for the street teams. If I got a flyer, would you autograph it for us so we can have a cool honeymoon souvenir. We would be most appreciative. Thanks if you can. Understandable if you can't though. Either way, it's going to be a great show, I'm sure. Joe and Linda

    • Hi Michael! I would like to see and hear you once with your fantastic music here in Switzerland!!!I'm a longtime fan since 620 West Surf and I have all your cd's and many dvd's! I'm looking forward to " Hit me back "!! Best wishes from Switzerland

    • Been a fan since I heard Paint You A Song on your 2004 Live At Shubas. It blew me away. The visual aspects of your lyrics are amazing. I've always tried to write like that. If cornered, and under duress, I would have to say that it along with 'Still Ain't Over You Yet' are my faves. Anyway, enough of the fan gushing. I got two questions, is ther any chance you'll be making it up here to the Great Northwest, and is there any chance you will release a studio version of Paint You A Song? God bless.

    • I love you music Michael!! I get so wet when I hear your voice!!

    • Thank you for the great show tonight, and especially for being so gracious toward my wife and me in speaking with us after the show and signing her CD and my hat. I'd like to send you a message regarding something that we have in common regarding our recent losses, but not in a public forum. You have my email from my signup tonight. Please send me a message there. I'd like to add to what I was able to say in the crowded space we were in. Like I told you tonight, it will get better, but will never go away. And that is a good thing, believe it or not. Peace. And God bless you and all of your loved ones.

    • Hi Michael and Heather

We so enjoyed ourself Saturday night at the Front Porch. Was that a great little place or what. We loved your new songs. The night was just so wounderful. I got great pictures of us and the show i will bring them to Lincoln Hall show. I just have to say i felt we all hit it off like we had nown each other forever. Heather i so loved the way we bonded. It is great to meet new friends and thats how i felt. Michael and yourself are so down to earth. I would have texted Heather by now but i lost my phone in a cup holder in the limo and they are having to take panels out to get to it. My luck !! I should have it by Wednesday i hope. Anyway so looking forward to our next meeting. You know chicago so you guys make the after show plans. We are getting a Hotel as close to the show as we can. Until then God Bless !!!! • your songwriting may not save the people you love in the literal sense of the word, but for myself, it touches me and moves me and makes me think about things, good or bad, in such ways that I never had before. There's a lot to be said for that and I thank you. Love the pink rabbits. They bring your daughter joy as your music does.

    • Your show on NYE was FABULOUS!!! My wife and I thought you were by far the best act of the evening. Thanks for the wonderful time.

    • Glad I found your website. Was bored and typed your name and Mike Jordans on Google. Amazing. Would love to hear you again. Have to come to Chicago or somewhere I guess.
